JUDO

TIMING + LEVERAGE

Judo focuses on using an opponent's energy against them, promoting physical coordination, mental clarity, and an ethical approach to life and practice. Judo techniques are categorized mainly into throws (Nage-Waza) and groundwork (Ne-Waza). Practitioners learn to execute throws with precise timing and leverage, followed by controlling techniques on the ground.

Founded in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano, Judo is derived from traditional Japanese Jujutsu. Kano's vision was to create an art that could be practiced both physically and mentally, transcending the battlefield techniques of its origins. Judo quickly grew in popularity, spreading internationally and becoming an official Olympic sport in 1964.
